Sensate: Abstract Art Inspired by Nature

"Through the abstract pieces in “Sensate,” I explore the merging of sensory perception and abstract expression. These paintings are not literal representations of the natural world, but my personal reaction to the sights, smells, and textures I’ve experienced in nature. My hope is that the sensations I’m “describing” on canvas are universal, and that you can find something in the paintings to relate to. I consider myself a “process” painter, meaning that I don’t typically paint with a particular concept in mind; I interact with the materials to explore my feelings and sensations through the act of making art. I then study the images to identify concepts
and assign meaning. Feel first, think later!

I invite you to let go of preconceived notions of “landscapes,” and let your own sensations arise in response to the colors, textures and shapes you see here." - Ginger Danz
